In a post-game interview, Indiana Pacers Star Roy Hibbert made the following “controversial” statement:
“I felt I let Paul (George) down in terms of having his back when LeBron was scoring in the post or getting into the paint because they stretched me out so much – no homo (laughing).”
For this remark Hibbert was fined 75,000 of his hard-owned money. While White people have attempted to make this incident about “homophobia” and “gay rights” what it really reveals is their continued hatred for Black vernacular and their continuous attempt to police and modify Black language.
White society wants to mold our vocabulary in a manner that is acceptable to them. “No Homo” is a phrase that originated in the Harlem and became popularized by Dipset and rapper Cam’ron. Due to the White media’s attempt to emasculate Black men– Black youth looking to reassert their manhood used this phrase after a statement that could be misinterpreted as homosexual.
In the past, White people used to cut Black men’s nuts and then lynch them. Today the White media has continued this process not through physical castration but through attempts to emasculate Black men with steady reminders that “we are just niggers” and not supposed to express ourselves in any way that White people don’t approve of. During Antebellum slavery, White people would take home the testicles of Black men as souvenirs—why the testicles? They were vital for Black reproduction and because it is the symbol of manhood. Today, White people through the media attempt to normalize and promote homosexuality in the Black community to carry on this legacy. The physical act of cutting off a Black man’s nuts, though devastating—is succeeded by the current messages promoted by the media which manipulates the psyche of Black men to abandon their manhood so that they embody and take upon the traits that White society dictates. Let’s emasculate Black men, promote abortions and advance the normalization of homosexuality so the Black family unit does not continue—an attempt to secure White supremacy.
]The term “no homo” is not “gay bashing”—it is simply used to say “do not interpret my remarks as being homosexual”. Black youth after years of castration seek to reclaim their manhood from a society that seeks to take it away on a daily basis. To perceive it as oppressive further represents- Whites and their continued ignorance of Black culture and dialect. With that being said, many NBA players are recruited from the streets. For example, Marvin “Bad News” Barnes, Julius “Dr. J” Irving, Muhammad Ali (You know him as the Greatest) and up to the modern era of Allen”The Answer” Iverson, these were all very powerful, charismatic men. Now, being that Roy Hibbert said something that could be interpreted as gay and looking to reaffirm his Black manhood—added no homo. Likewise, NBA Superstar Allen Iverson was well-known for showing up to press conferences with a certain demeanor and flaunting clothing that comes from his culture. The NBA league couldn’t deal with this and so they decided to institute a dress code. This sort of policy is connected to a historical and continuous attempt to attack Black culture.
Despite the White man’s attempt to police our language, Black men will continue to come together- no homo of course. If Hibbert doesn’t want his words to be interpreted as gay and instead wants to reaffirm his manhood and heterosexuality which is key to the continued existence of his people—that’s his right. The real objection to this term is because Whites want to attack Black youth, our culture and want to erase our unique dialect and language. It’s a known fact we are cultural leaders, not just in America but for the world-at-large (ask Kanye). Listen, Hibbert is a grown man.
He is free man who can say what he wants to say. David Stern is a White elderly patriarchal figure who controls a league of Black players from the streets on the behalf of White capitalist. Stern instantly gets his whip out when a Black man says something that he doesn’t approve of. Perhaps every Black man should just stop what they’re doing, shout to the heavens and say YESSA Massa! Maybe that would sooth the giant ego of the White man. But despite massa’s severe punishment, we will continue to be who we are, and uneono it!
